Learning About Geometry
In order to learn about geometry, you need to become familiar with the basic concepts of planes, spaces, points, lines, the x-y-z coordinate system, angles, circle geometry, perimeters, area, and volume.
Planes: two-dimensional, that has length and width and it is formed by infinite amount of lines. It uses ordered pair (pair of numbers in parenthesis to exactly locate on coordinate plane).
Spaces: set of all points and infinite number of planes that uses ordered triple (x,y,z).
Points: dot indicating exact location on coordinate plane.
Lines: one-dimensional figure with no endpoints.
X-Y-Z coordinate system: the origin is the center of the coordinate (0,0,0). All points are defined by three coordinates, one along the X- axis, one along the Y-axis, and one along the Z-axis.
Angles: measurement of degrees between two lines.
Circle geometry: shape with all points same distance from the origin. It can be measured using geometry.
Perimeters: path that surrounds an area. There are different equations to find perimeters for different shapes.
Area: quantity that is expressed in two-dimensional shape. There are different equations to find perimeters for different shapes.
Volume: measure of how much substance three-dimensional shape can carry. There are different equations to find perimeters for different shapes.
