“Ulysses S. Grant’s real name was Hiram Ulysses Grant, but didn’t care for his initials ‘HUG’. When he was at the US Military Academy at West Point, someone called him Ulysses Simpson Grant by mistake, Grant liked that so much that he didn’t bother to correct it. Even though he was a career soldier, he hated guns and didn’t even like to hunt. Ulysses married Julia Dent in 1844. They had four children. Julia’s father was against the marriage because he didn’t want his daughter to marry a soldier.”
