Christmas time for various cultures around the world varies due to cultural differences. A universal view about Christmas is that it is a time of year that should be celebrated with joy and giving. Although a general view about Christmas is that it formed from the day that Christ was born, the truth is that Christmas originated by the Romans as a holiday for a pagan Persian light god. The 25th of December is actually a day that was thought of by the Romans, and does not signify the birth of the Christian religious figure Jesus Christ.
Alabama was the first state to recognize Christmas as an official holiday. This tradition began in 1836.
Christmas trees are edible. Many parts of pines, spruces, and firs can be eaten. The needles are a good source of vitamin C. Pine nuts, or pine cones, are also a good source of nutrition.
In 1907, Oklahoma became the last US state to declare Christmas a legal holiday.
